Prospect Hill Stairs and Lookout

The existing lookout and stairs (a Local Council asset on National Park land) were unsafe for use and unable to be repaired.

Wagners CFT was chosen because it was fit for purpose. The site is highly exposed to the elements with the Southern Ocean only 500m away to the south and Pelican Lagoon, and North Cost of Kangaroo Island 500m to the north. The site was delicate due to local flora and fauna and it is the largest sand hill on Kangaroo Island.

We were called into replace the existing perma-pine stairs without damaging the delicate flora and fauna. This was no mean feat for the largest dune on the island a mere 500m from the ocean on its Northern and Southern sides.

Our lightweight, pre-fabricated composite structures were helicoptered into the barely accessible site and positioned directly above the old, removed structure so as not to damage the dune environment. An average, 4-6 people were required on-site to carry up material that wasn't helicoptered in.
